Middle Village is my home. I’ve lived here for the last 15 years. I love it. Middle Village has a great sense of community, friendly people and of course Juniper Valley Park. Juniper Park is the pride of Middle Village and is where it all happens. I was just there to walk my dogs and guess what, a 24 hour Ultra-marathon was in progress! Juniper Valley Park is a great place for kids of all ages. With all kinds of ball fields – soccer, softball, baseball, football, roller hockey, basketball, tennis, racquetball, bocci, running track, two playgrounds for kids and lots of trees this park is really a local treasure.

Bit of history. Middle Village gets its name from its geography. It happens to be in the middle point of the old Williamsburg – Jamaica Turnpike, now called Metropolitan Ave. In the early 19th century farmers hauled their wagons back and forth between the Brooklyn ferries at the foot of Broadway and Jamaica. For years Middle Village Real Estate revolved around the turnpike. That’s where you’d see scattered homes and around the time of the Civil War, a three-story brick hotel, offering a night’s lodging and refreshments. To the north of the village, where now Juniper Valley Park lays was an impenetrable Juniper Swamp.

Cemeteries changed Middle Village further. Most prominent is St. Johns which dates back to 1879. Residential housing development started around the 1920s. The Juniper Valley Swamp was filled in around 1915. In 1930’s it was purchased by the city and tagged for development as a public park. This ushered in a wave of housing growth in the vicinity that lasted into the 1960’s Today, Middle Village is considered one of the premier places to live in Queens for families with kids. Excellent public schools PS128, PS49 and PS87 draw young buyers to the area. Average home prices in Middle Village Real Estate range from $625,000 for single family homes to $735,000 for small two family properties.
